Product Overview

The Columbus Expedition Flag represents one of the earliest European banners flown in the New World during the voyages of Christopher Columbus. Commissioned under the authority of the Spanish monarchy, this standard—known as “La Capitana”—featured the crowned initials F (Fernando) and Y (Ysabel) with a cross between them. It served as the Captain’s Ensign and was flown aboard Columbus’s ships during his historic expeditions.

Often confused with the Castile and León (Lions and Castles) flag, both banners were in fact used during these voyages. This flag stands as a symbol of early exploration and the beginning of European presence in the Americas.

Crafted from durable nylon with a digitally reproduced imprint and sewn construction, this flag offers vivid, long-lasting color and performance. 100% Made in the USA, it is ideal for historical displays, educational settings, reenactments, or decorative use.
